Halldale Quarry 

Halldale quarry is a former limestone quarry located to the south-west of Matlock, Derbyshire. Surrounded by woodland and open fields, the site is vast in size and features dramatic sheer rock faces and escarpments. Rock strata form a series of three platforms creating a challenging but exciting topographical site that as a setting for a new housing development, presented itself as an entirely unique opportunity.

The masterplan for the site comprises delivery of 220 new homes and 2 hectares of commercial and cafe/restaurant use set within 6 different distinct character areas. These range from traditional housing, drawing on local vernacular, to overtly contemporary one-off houses. This variety creates a rich and varied new location to live, work and socialise, that maximises the dramatic backdrop of a quarry.

The scheme was approved by the local council in November 2023 and we are now undertaking detailed design for the first phase of works.
